Music Ministries at First
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir provides music and helps lead worship each Sunday for the 11:00 traditional service. The choir sings a wide variety of music including traditional sacred, classical sacred, and contemporary sacred anthems. The choir is open to all ages and experience levels. You do not need to know how to read music! Rehearsals are every Wednesday night from 7:00-8:30 in the choir room. Contact Wesley Hudson (wesley@fumc-highpoint.org).
Chancel Carillon
The Chancel Carillon handbell choir is an intermediate-level handbell choir that provides music once a month for the 11:00 traditional service as well as special music for the 8:30 and 9:00 services. The handbell choir is open to all ages and experience levels. Rehearsals are every Wednesday from 6:00-7:00 in the handbell room. Contact Wesley Hudson (wesley@fumc-highpoint.org).
Chapel Choir
The Chancel Choir sings for our 8:30 a.m. worship service each week. Practices are the first Tuesday of each month from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel. This is a very informal choir, and the ability to read music is not required. Contact Peggy Shepherd.
Praise Team
The Praise Team provides music for our 9:00 a.m. contemporary service each week. Practices are every Wednesday from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the Praise and Worship space on Wrenn Street. Singers as well as instrumentalists are welcome to attend practices and sing and play on Sunday mornings. The ability to read music is not required. Contact JJ Gibbs (jjgibbs@fumc-highpoint.org).
Joy Ringers
The Joy Ringers are an intergenerational handbell choir composed of children and adults. Ideally, ringers should be at least 9 years old and older. Generally, this group rings at least once a month for the morning worship service. There is no requirement to read music, as this will be taught during practice sessions. The group practices on Tuesday evenings at 6:45 in the Handbell Room (2nd floor above the Sanctuary). Sonja Tomlinson at 336-312-0463 (call or text) or via email (sonjat52@gmail.com).
Christ Ambassadors Men’s Choir

The M&M’s Children’s Choir
Led by FUMC Director of Handbells & Children’s Music Ministries, Sonja Tomlinson, all children aged 5 and up are invited to join in the Children's Choir Room (room 206 on the 2nd floor of the Education Building) at 11:00 a.m. on Sundays. During their time together, the group will learn to sing, read music, play the handbells, and will perform in Sunday services throughout the year! At the end of practice at 11:30, children can either be picked up from the classroom or will be escorted to the Sanctuary where they will sit together in the back for the remainder of the service.
